2. Hanover, February 2008. With the Land Rover LRX study, the British 4x4 specialist is presenting its vision of all-terrain cars of the future. At the Auto Show in Detroit, the British carmaker has just introduced its concept vehicle – lighter-weight, more economical, equipped with a hybrid drive, and with an even wider variety of possible uses. In the exhibition hall, the attention-grabbing LRX is outfitted with concept tyres from Continental, specially developed by the leading German tyre manufacturer's design department. In creating the tyre, the engineers in Hanover gave high priority to complementing the contours of the concept vehicle and meeting the requirements of its various applications. The tyres in the size 245/45 R 20, manufactured individually for the LRX, thus demonstrate a mixture of design elements from road and all-terrain tyres. "We developed the tyre design in close contact with the Land Rover Design Group", according to designer Ulrich Behr, who is responsible for these concept tyres from Continental. "We focussed on making a tyre with low rolling resistance that is a symbiosis of design elements from off-road and sports tyres. And the 20 inch size is in tune with the vehicle size and appearance. The LRX logo was integrated in the flowing tread elements to accentuate the exclusive nature of the experimental vehicle." |
