1. Fitting the tyres (on reversed Suzuki rims) was fun as they have a reinforced side wall which makes fitting with tyre irons a bit of a laugh…so off to my mate Steve at SD Edmunds to use his machine. Once on balancing was almost pointless as the moulding symmetry was so good, even at speed on tarmac there was negligible vibration which was a pleasant surprise. This made for some not inconsiderable entertainment as I have access to an area of privately owned tarmac close to home and even a vastly underpowered vehicle like mine can cause break away in the dry. Off road however these tyre don’t just come into their own, they excel – over on my trials testing course (courtesy of East Devon Off Road Experience) I had all on to find conditions that would bring the Auverland to a halt, only ridiculously steep banks with a leaf mould covering caused any concern and name me a tyre that could conquer that kind of surface. All in all, coupled to the Auverland’s awesome articulation the Bronco DB’s allowed me to drive sections that my old hybrid special runs away from. The down side to this is that unless you run Dana 44’s or 60’s or a set of the Great Parrott’s heavy duty axles you had better have some spare half shafts along with you. |
