1. I have two full sets of Yokohama A008 RSIIs that have been kept in a cool, dark place in black plastic bags and don't show any discolouration. Can I still use them as track tyres, street-only tyres or are they likely to be completely stuffed? I have been told of a product used by kart racers called "Tyre Reviver" that might bring some life back into them. Your thoughts please!1st Bike UK rider Andy Angell has had mixed fortunes in the British Superstock series. In his 1 st year in the big league Andy has had to learn new circuits as well as set up his Suzuki GSX1000. At Oulton Park a mid-pack start was foiled by an off-track excursion, but Andy whilst finishing 29 th , was running top 20 lap times, which can only be a good sign.At Brands though, a brilliant start ended almost immediately when another rider, out of control, punted Andy into the gravel. Whilst only winded, his bike was totalled! With Donington around the corner, the spanners are running hot in the Angell Motorsport garage. |

2. No more skidding to a halt after a blow-out, or struggling to change a wheel by the roadside in the rain: the run-flat tyre gives you the chance to at least coast safely to your destination or to a tyre-fitter's. First developed for endurance racing (Porsche 959), it has become a significant device for civilian road safety. A high proportion of road accidents involve either people stranded by the side of motorways, or high-speed tyre failure; the run-flat not only helps prevent both these scenarios, but does away with much of the inconvenience of a puncture. It works by keeping the tyre beads anchored to the rim flange of the wheel, even if there is no pressure in the tyre, preventing tread separation. The downside of run-flats is that they are expensive to replace and can affect ride quality, especially the low-profile tyres fitted in combination with large alloy wheel designs.
