1. Smart Jack 3 Adapter allows for control of up to 170 Color Kinetics light addresses -- a full DMX512 universe from a personal computer. Smart Jack 3 Adapter is ideal for applications that can be controlled via a PC and used in conjunction with customized software. SmartJack 3 delivers a true DMX data stream to Color Kinetics digital lighting via your personal computer's USB port, taking advantage of USB's high data rate, while also drawing power so that no external supply is needed. When T-1 was developed the interface between CSU and DSU, called DSX-1, was designated the demarcation point between Telco and customer. DSX-1 is still the demarcation point in rest of the world. During US deregulation the FCC defined the 4-wire facility as the demarcation point. This caused problems for service providers as now management and quality assurance functions were no longer under their control but provided by customer premise equipment (CPE). The solution was the Smart Jack. It presents a 4-wire (2-pair) interface to customer and implements service provider Loopback test function.

2. The SmartJack is a family of products is for remote activated copper line testing (POTS xDSL E1 etc). The SmartJack concept has been successfully patented in South Africa. From the telco central exchange a remote loop back, open circuit or short circuit condition can be activated at the customer premises by the SmartJack. The standard SmartJack incorporates line and mains lightning protection and is fully transparent for AC as well as DC signal paths and is manufactured with either 4-wire or a 2-Wire line interface. Other variations of the product includes a unit with an integrated ADSL/POTS splitter specifically targeted at the home ADSL market; a micro SmartJack targeted to be fit inside a connector at the customer premises as well as a low cost SmartJack, for deployment on SHDSL installations, with reduced line testing capabilities. The whole product family is in full production at this point in time. This allows Telco to perform testing and maintenance functions while complying with FCC regulations. Smart Jacks can be also used to deliver T-1 service to customers by converting other transmission schemes, typically optical, to T-1 |
