WATERTOWN (AP) -- The maker of the iconic tree-shaped air freshener is suing Old Navy over a line of T-shirts. According to court documents, Old Navy is selling T-shirts that sport the slogan "Keeping it Fresh," accompanied by an image of a tree-shaped car air freshener.
Car-Freshner Corporation of Watertown brought a federal lawsuit against the San Francisco-based retailer and its parent company -- The Gap -- this week. Car-Freshner says the design on the T-shirts is identical to their trademarked design, which is used by the company on car air fresheners, apparel and other items. In the suit, the 50-year-old company seeks to bar Old Navy from buying, selling or advertising any items with the tree design. An unspecified amount is sought in damages. |
